Your visit to Slovenia wouldn't be a perfect one without marveling at the grand view from Bled Castle, a medieval jewel in Upper Carniola. This admission ticket will gain you access to the oldest castle in Slovenia for you to explore it at your own pace.

Enter the castle and enjoy the bird's-eye views on the shimmering lake and the Julian Alps from the perched courtyard. Fresh air and the warm sun combined with Bled's history, exhibited in the castle museum, will make you wonder about the medieval life at majestic Bled Castle. When strolling through the mysterious Castle premises, do not forget to visit the wine cellar, Gutenberg's press chamber, the castle's chapel and the museum.

Built as a stronghold for the aristocratic bishops of the Brixen dynasty to defend their territories from attack, its fortified Romanesque walls and ramparts today hide a largely 16th‐century Renaissance castle built after a devastating earthquake in 1511 destroyed the previous building. It is centered around a pair of courtyards, constructed in an enticing jumble of red‐roofed wine cellars, forges, servants’ quarters, mansion, a stately knight’s hall and a chapel swathed in frescoes.

The “Time Machine” will lead visitors on a guided tour through six decisive periods that have marked the history of the Ljubljana Castle and the development of the city. At each of the “time stations”, visitors will be met by a figure who will present his or her period.

After an introductory welcome from a Roman soldier or a priestess at the place where an observation tower stood during the time of Roman Emona, events shift to in front of the castle entrance. There St George will tell his story, the brave knight who, in the early Middle Ages, defeated the terrifying dragon and saved the citizens of Ljubljana from that dreadful menace. If St George is not home, his role will be taken by Marjetica. Who, in the late Middle Ages, can take the greatest credit for the fact that a powerful fortress grew on the hill above the city? You can learn the answer to this question in the courtyard, where you will meet the emperor himself – Frederick III of the Habsburgs – or his wife Eleanor Helena of Portugal. The time of the Illyrian Provinces can be best described by the Napoleonic soldier or the nurse-nun whom you will meet in front of the Pentagonal Tower. The 19th century was a dark period for the Ljubljana Castle, as you will discover when you visit the penitentiary, where a member of the Italian Carbonari and an “ordinary woman prisoner” will, amongst other things, reveal the menu that castle prisoners encountered during their internment. Finally, you will be greeted in the courtyard by the man who can take credit for the fact that the castle is today owned by the city – Mayor Ivan Hribar purchased the castle from the state authorities of the time in 1905. If he is too busy, you will be greeted by his daughter Zlatica.

Ljubljana Castle, a mighty medieval fortress, a symbol of the Slovenian capital Ljubljana is an interesting tourist point with idyllic grounds for long strolls just a glance away from the lively city center.

The Ljubljana Castle has undergone many changes over the centuries. Nonetheless, it has remained the symbol of the Slovenian capital and will remain so into the future. The role of the Castle has changed over the centuries as well, and today the Castle is an interesting tourist attraction for foreign visitors as well as Slovenians. It is also used as a walking avenue for the locals, which is confirmed by the number of visitors 1.000.000 per year.

The Ljubljana Castle is also a cultural center of Ljubljana, as its facilities are the setting for concerts, exhibitions, stage plays, various social gatherings and protocol receptions. The Watchtower offers a wonderful vista over Ljubljana and its surroundings, and visitors can also see the Virtual Castle, a permanent exhibition entitled Slovenian History, Penitentiary, Museum of Puppetry, Castle Chapel of St George, Pentagonal Tower, the Strelec Restaurant, the Castle Coffee House or the Castle Restaurant and Castle shop Experience 2 go.
When visiting the castle, you can choose  to get there quickly and comfortably by funicular. The modern and unobtrusively designed funicular, which complements the traditional cultural identity of the Ljubljana Castle, is popular with both domestic and foreign visitors. It is particularly attractive during fine weather, when it offers spectacular views of the city, and it is indispensable as a fast and comfortable connection with the old town center. In seeking to preserve the natural environment in the wider area of the Castle Hill, the funicular is the right choice, while at the same time being an exciting experience with which to begin your visit to the castle.

Designers Miha Kerin and Majda Kregar of the Ambient design studio were awarded a Gold Medal for the design of the funicular railway in the category of best achievement in industrial design at the 21st Ljubljana Biennial of Industrial Design (BIO 21) in 2008.

Predjama Castle is situated in the middle of a towering cliff, a mere 9 km from Postojna Cave. Picturesque, magnificent, defiant, mysterious and impregnable, it has been dominating the surrounding area, perched high up in the 123-meter high cliff, for more than 800 years. It is listed among the Guinness World Records as the largest cave castle in the world.

Predjama Castle with its location and mysterious tunnels is truly something special. It impresses visitors with how well the natural cave and the man-made castle walls are interwoven, sometimes making it difficult to see where the former ends and the latter begin. Predjama Castle is also a Guinness world record-holder for being the largest cave castle in the world. It is extremely well preserved, as it was impossible to conquer it in the middle ages. The castle offers a unique insight into the construction techniques and ingenuity of medieval people who came here searching for a safe haven right at the entrance to the cave. During a siege in the 15th century, the castle offered refuge to its most famous and notorious owner - Erazem of Predjama. The appealing and inspiring legend about the brave robber baron Erazem, who had remained undefeated until he was betrayed by one of his servants, still lives on in the common lore, and rightly so as the gallant knight resisted the besiegers inside his safe castle for over a year without any major problems.

Besides original furniture there is also an medieval Armoury museum inside the Castle. The tour takes you inside the Castle and behind into the cave in the cliff. Audioguides are provided in 17 different languages, with extra legends for the most curious about the secrets of the Castle. The tour of the Castle takes about 60 minutes, but you can always take your own pace and timing.
